Medical Biology

Explore biology within the context of a science, technology, engineering, math and computer focus
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2018 was awarded jointly to James P. Allison and Tasuku Honjo for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibiting negative immune regulation.
This course aims to explore the fundamental principles governing health and diseases. At its core, this program introduces the basic principles of cell biology and explores its interplay with diverse branches of biomedical sciences such as neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and biotechnology. This integration highlights the ever-evolving breadth of medical knowledge and innovation.
In this course, we focus on physiological functioning of immune system under both normal and disease condition. Immunotherapy is now considered a pillar of treatment in medical science. This course will introduce and build upon concepts of immunology in a biomedically relevant manner. You will learn about principles and mechanisms that enable our bodies to fight and respond to pathogens.
Interactive sessions to enhance engagement and understanding of
  • Introduction to Cells¬† & subcellular structures (function)
  • Homeostasis and its importance (Regulation of body functions)
  • Genetics and Heredity
  • Introduction to Diseases(diseases & causes, immune system, role of microbes )
  • Medical research in advancing healthcare
  • Basics of genetic engineering & application in medicine
  • Public health and technologies(for prediction, diagnosis and therapy)
Students have the opportunity to select a topic of their choice from any of the subjects covered in the course. Our instructors collaborate with students to aid them in identifying pertinent scientific literature, enabling them to formulate valid hypotheses. Through our unique and robust infrastructure, we offer a broad spectrum of resources, fostering collaboration among students as they engage in their projects. Our training approach encourages students to delve into advanced topics, cultivating a deeper understanding.
Learn about an increasingly wide range of available careers, including research (academic & Pharmaceutical company based), teaching, Medical practitioners, to name a few.
Several of our alumni students have extended their research endeavors beyond the course and have showcased their work at various research platforms and scientific fairs. This reflects the success of our program in nurturing a passion for scientific inquiry and providing students with the skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to ongoing research efforts.
