Elio Academy Scholarships support exceptional students pursuing biomedical sciences by providing financial assistance and academic recognition. We offer two scholarship categories designed to empower talented learners and promote excellence in biomedical education.
Altair Scholarship
A prestigious scholarship awarded to the top applicants from around the world who demonstrate exceptional academic excellence, research experience, and a strong passion for medicine and biomedical sciences.

Altair Scholarship
Recognizing Excellence in Biomedical Sciences
This is a special recognition awarded to students who demonstrate strong passion, advanced knowledge, and academic excellence, along with a keen interest in pursuing a career in medicine or biomedical sciences.
This scholarship provides a funded opportunity for motivated students to showcase their passion and work alongside experienced instructors on a meaningful, real-world medical science project, with the potential to develop their interests into impactful, substantive work.
Each year, the Altair Scholarship is awarded to the top applicants from around the world who share a strong interest in pursuing medicine and biomedical sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be accepted to one of the ELIO Summer Programs for the same year as the scholarship application is submitted.
- Be currently enrolled in high-school or taking a gap year prior to university.
- Have a household income below $150,000 USD (or proof of financial need).
- Submit high school transcripts and cumulative GPA, demonstrating academic excellence through:
- Research experience - abstracts, publications, presentations.
- Regional, state, or national awards
- A strong interest in medicine and biomedical sciences
- Submit two letters of recommendation from current or former teachers who can speak to academic merit and strengths
- Submit a ~500 word Statement of Purpose (SOP) addressing:
- Academic and career ambitions
- Goals for participating in the summer program
- Why you are a strong candidate for the scholarship
- How the project supports your long-term academic or career goals
Application Process
The selection process consists of two steps:
Complete Application: Fill out the application below and submit the required information and references.
Virtual Interview: Shortlisted candidates will advance to a virtual interview.
Winners will be announced on May 31st, 2026
The Altair Scholarship Committee is composed of scientific officers and mentors who will rigorously review all applications and determine scholarship recipients in accordance with the Academy’s endowment guidelines.

Gateway Scholarship
Opening Doors Through Financial Support
The Gateway Scholarship is an economic-hardship–based tuition waiver grant that offers upto 85% tuition coverage to the selected applicants who meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.
This scholarship provides financial support for motivated students with demonstrated need, enabling them to participate in advanced biomedical research programs and work alongside experienced instructors on meaningful projects.
Designed to remove financial barriers and support students with demonstrated need, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Annual family income under $70,000 USD.
- CGPA above 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Two letters of recommendation from science teachers / academic advisors / college counselors, who can speak to academic merit.
- A statement of interest detailing how the advanced research/program experience will help you achieve your goals.
- Students may also opt for easy monthly installment payments to cover any fees.
Application Process
The Gateway Selection Committee will carefully review all applications and may grant full or partial tuition waivers to support program fees. Please note that all scholarship decisions are final, and awarded amounts cannot be modified.
