Summary
This project is about the biomedical device, Heart-On-A-Chip, and how it functions to hopefully allow for a better understanding of cardiovascular diseases as well as future treatments. This project gives some background on cardiovascular diseases, types of materials needed to build a Heart-On-A-Chip device, Real-World Applications, and more!
The purpose of this project is to understand the uses of the Heart-on-a-chip and why further developing the technology is very valuable to daily life. Additionally, being able to accurately simulate how an actual human heart may react to certain drugs/treatments can help save numerous lives. GO HEART-ON-A-CHIP TECHNOLOGY!

A detailed version of a Heart-On-A-Chip. A Polydimethylsiloxane chip is the base of the device and within it there is a vascular microchannel that shows the process of blood vessels getting nutrients and then getting rid of them through the vascular microchannel out.

Emma Gershenson
Through this program, I learned the importance of perseverance and asking questions even if I was worried what others may think. Additionally, I gained knowledge in topics like multi-omics, Cancer Biology, and even Molecular Biology. This type of learning prepares me for future research because it allowed me to try out different websites that once mastered could be really beneficial for my scientific posters.
